Tactile feedback is easiest understood as the sensation one's fingers get from depressing a key on a keyboard, but instead a "sensation" one gets when touching a screen in the spot where a key is viewed. Immersion has patents galore in this field and is licensed into many electronics. The more one interacts in a digital spatial world, there will be greater need (and related complexities) to deliver the same sensations when our nervous system comes in contact with the digital version of a real-life phsyical anything. The destination is obvious, but the road ahead involves things not in their control such that tactile feedback will remain a luxury experience.
